Pilot Projects
Within the scope of the Pilot Projects, the Consortium Partners provide free support
to water supply and/or wastewater management utilities, operating in Portugal,
interested in making investments to improve the energy efficiency of their
systems.
INDAQUA is yet another management utility joining the WENexus project. The cooperation protocol which sets out the scope of the Pilot Projects and the support to be provided by the WENexus team was signed in July 2024.
The Pilot Projects in development with INDAQUA corresponds to:
Vector 2 – Photovoltaic Panels:
o Photovoltaic panels installation at water and wastewater infrastructures.
In July 2024, a cooperation protocol was established between WENexus and Inframoura – Empresa de Infraestruturas de Vilamoura, E.M., which sets out the scope of the Pilot Projects to be developed with this management utility and the support to be provided by the WENexus team.
The Pilot Projects in development with Inframoura corresponds to:
- Vector 1 – Electromechanical Equipment:
Pumps replacement at water supply pumping stations.
- Vector 2 – Storage Batteries:
Storage Batteries installation at water supply pumping stations.
In May 2024, a cooperation protocol was established between WENexus and Águas do Ribatejo, which sets out the scope of the Pilot Projects to be developed with this management utility and the support to be provided by the WENexus team.

Vector 1 – Electromechanical Equipment:
o Pumps replacement at wastewater pumping stations.
Vector 2 – Photovoltaic Panels:
o Photovoltaic panels installation at water and wastewater infrastructures.
In March 2024, a cooperation protocol was established between WENexus and Águas do Algarve, which sets out the scope of the Pilot Projects to be developed with this management utility and the support to be provided by the WENexus team.
The Pilot Projects in development with Águas do Algarve corresponds to:
Vector 1 – Electromechanical Equipment:
o Sand filters wash water pumps replacement at water treatment plant;
o Pumps and variable speed drivers replacement at water pumping stations;
o Installation of variable speed drives at water pumping stations.
